math playlist.
There’s a lot to explore, but we never want you to feel overwhelmed. We curated the resources on this page to help you get started. You’ll learn how Mix and Math 360° is designed to grow your confidence in teaching math and help you deepen every student's understanding of math, no matter where they're currently at.
Step #1: Watch the Math Concept Video
Watching the math concept video is the best place to start! This 10–15 minute video will:
- Show you how the concept progresses so you know where students are coming from and how to support them
- Walk you through how to use math manipulatives to teach the concept in a way that actually sticks for students
- Leave you with instructional strategies you can use right away to move students' understanding forward
Teachers who watch the math concept videos when they're getting ready to plan their next math unit tell us they feel more confident teaching the concepts and creating hands-on learning experiences for their students.
Step #2: Print the Math Mat
Your math mat is ready to print! Laminate or put it in a dry-erase pocket to make it reusable. This math mat will:
- Give students an intentionally structured space to model the concept using math manipulatives
- Help students make connections between physical models, visual models, and abstract math thinking
- Support your teaching in whole group instruction, small group instruction, intervention, and independent work
Math mats are a teacher favorite because they make it easy to incorporate manipulatives into your lesson. Teachers tell us that they're better able to support a wide range of learners with the math mats.
Step #3: Prep a Hands-On Activity
Your students are going to love this hands-on math activity! This engaging activity will:
- Supplement your math curriculum so you can create a learning experience that incorporates math manipulatives
- Target a specific learning goal within the math concept to build students' conceptual understanding
- Get your students genuinely excited about learning as they think more deeply and engage in rich math conversations
Teachers who use the hands-on activities in their classrooms tell us that their students are much more engaged, and they spend less time reteaching later on because their students truly "get it."
