September 14th - October 9th, 2026
You know fluency is more than speed. But how do you actually teach that? Timed tests and flashcards aren't working. Students memorize, then forget. They get answers but can't explain their thinking. Something has to change.
That's why we built this cohort. Over four weeks, John SanGiovanni and Jennifer Bay-Williams will give you a research-backed framework for teaching, practicing, and assessing fluency — the real kind. You'll leave every session with strategies you can use the next day. This isn't sit-and-get PD. This will change how you teach fluency for good.
This experience will deepen your understanding of what fluency really is and how to ensure every student is able to develop fluency in mathematics while also building a positive mathematics identity and agency.Â
Here's what you'll get...

I gained so much insight about fluency from this. As an adult who still struggles with certain math concepts and a child who struggled in math with anything beyond the standard algorithm, this is eye-opening. I have worked through problems with new strategies and cannot believe what I was missing out on.
Stefanie, Math Interventionist
This was by far the best professional development ever. I loved the book. The presenters made it seem doable even in small steps.
Tiffany, 3rd Grade Teacher
Thank you for making fluency feel much less overwhelming and more about empowering students with confidence and flexibility.
Ashley, 5th Grade Teacher
These teachers participated in our summer book study featuring Jenny and John's book, Figuring Out Fluency.
